Not Your Typical Green Smoothie – Sweet Lime Detox

I never thought I’d get into the smoothie craze. I still don’t consider myself caught up in it, but over recent months I’ve decided to educate myself on green smoothies and see how I could really benefit from them instead of just going by what everyone else is doing. Going out and buying some power smoothie every day just wasn’t my thing.

Then I realized I could make my own smoothies. Awesome.

I stuck to a particular one for a while which consisted of berries, granola, orange juice and yogurt. Then I decided to do some more exploring, especially about the green smoothie. There’s tons of information out there, but I believe in simplicity, so I try not to overdo it.

The goal is to detox and drop pounds along the way. This particular smoothie is especially for the sake of detox. So it’s good to do it before you start your day. If you’re fasting, you can drink it during the day to help you maintain your energy level while going through the fast. Ingredients that are super for detox in this smoothie are parsley, lime juice and spinach.

Here’s more insight on the ingredients:

Surprisingly, the lime and parlsey added a nice zesty taste to the smoothie. Which is a plus in addition to the awesome benefits the two ingredients have.
Blending can be a little tricky. If you use frozen pieces of fruit, you may have to add a little more green tea for a nice consistency.
You don’t want it to be too thick, so adding a little more green tea or water should loosen it up a bit.
